VP of Officials Dean Blandino, of Party Bus Infamy, Leaving the NFL

The NFL's vice president of officiating, Dean Blandino, is reportedly leaving the NFL.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Aditi Kinkhabwala, Blandino is leaving to take a new position with a television network.

Blandino, you might very well remember, gained infamy in 2014, when he was allegedly seen walking off of the Cowboys' party bus. A TMZ video surfaced then that showed Blandino out on the Cowboys' bus in Los Angeles with Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones, the son of Jerry Jones.

The optics of the situation weren't great. The head of the league's officials out partying with a high-ranking executive from a team? Yeah, it didn't go over well, especially not in Philadelphia.

The news of Blandino's departure comes on the heels of a decision that will change the replay process in 2017. The final decision on replays was to be made in the league office in New York instead of by officials on the field. Those decisions were supposed to be made by Blandino.

Now, they'll likely be made by his successor. A bit of advice for the next guy: Don't get on the party bus.
