Two Signs DeSean Jackson Could Be on the Move. Is a Return to the Eagles Possible?

Here we go again, Eagles fans. In what seems like a yearly occurance, the DeSean Jackson to Philly rumors are back, but this time there's a little added fuel to the fire.

After a 1,000-yard season with the Washington Redskins in 2016, the then-30-year old Jackson was a free agent looking for a new home and the Eagles were potential suitors. The three-time Pro Bowler signed a three-year, $33.5 million contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Eagles snagged Alshon Jeffery and then won a Super Bowl.

I think the Eagles made out just fine.

Two years into his contract, with the third year not guaranteed, it looks like Jackson and the Buccaneers could part ways. According to our John Clark, Jackson has expressed interest in coming back to Philadelphia and there are two big signs that he could be on the move, at least somwhere.

The Iverson jersey post is whatever, but the fact that he just sold his house is fairly significant. He made a tidy profit on the place, too.

Jackson bought the house in Tampa in 2017 for $875,000 and sold it 15 days ago for $1.1 million. The five-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath estate boasts a fairly tame interior and one of the nicest backyards you'll ever see, complete with a pool, basketball court and putting green. However, at 32, should the Eagles want Jackson back? Probably not.

While Jackson is still the kind of player who can take the top off a defense, the Eagles saw that first-hand this season, he has battled through injuries each of the past two years. Additionally, his numbers are simply underwhelming and the Eagles probably feel good about some of the main pieces they currently have at the position. Jackson has hauled in 91 passes over the past two years for 1,442 yards and seven touchdowns in 26 games.

Looking at 2019, the Eagles will have Alshon Jeffery at a cap number of $14.725 million, Mack Hollins at just over $800,000, Shelton Gibson at just over $700,000 and Nelson Agholor, if they bring him back, at $9.387 million, on the books. The team will absolutely need to add at the position, but is an aging, often injured, speed wide receiver the answer? Only for an absolute bargain.

So, here we are with Jackson rumors again in a position of need, but the Instagram post and his house sale make it a little more interesting this year, I guess.
