The voluntary portion of the Eagles' offseason program is over. Mandatory minicamp is this week.
Two of the Eagles' three Pro Bowlers from a year ago — Fletcher Cox and Darren Sproles — skipped OTAs. Will they show up this week?
Well, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Sproles "is slated" to show.
That leaves Cox as the only question mark remaining. A twitter user on Sunday night claimed they saw the star defensive lineman on a plane to Philly and took a photo, but it's unclear if Cox will report.
When asked on Friday if he thought Cox and Sproles would be with the team this week, head coach Doug Pederson said, "“I think deep down they’re going to be here."
It's unclear why Sproles elected to skip OTAs, but we know why Cox did. He's on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract with the team and will get paid just under $8 million in 2016. But his agent has been in talks with the team about a new deal that would likely dish out around $50-60 million guaranteed. Often players choose to avoid risk of injury before a big deal is signed.
If Sproles or Cox skip the mandatory minicamp, the most the team could fine them is $76,580. Pederson was mum when asked about potential consequences from the team.
