Plenty of Eagles Set Career Highs in Snaps Sunday

Because the Eagles' 6-0 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday had no playoff implications, plenty of backups got a lot of time on the field.

In fact, of the 46 active Eagles, 11 set new career highs in offensive or defensive snaps. Five were draft picks this year.

On offense, Mack Hollins (44 snaps), Nate Sudfeld (40), Marcus Johnson (39) and Shelton Gibson (13) set career highs.

On defense, Jaylen Watkins (62), Destiny Vaeao (56), Kamu Grugier-Hill (53), Steven Means (39), Elijah Qualls (36), Sidney Jones (29) and Nate Gerry (20) all set new snap count highs too.

For Sudfeld and Jones, Sunday was their first NFL game action. For Nate Gerry, it was his first time on the field on defense. Gibson had played just four offensive snaps before Sunday; he also made his first two career catches against the Cowboys.

Jones, the second-round pick who came back from Achilles surgery, likely would have played much more than 29 snaps but he cramped up in his back and quad. After the game he said he was fine.

Offensive tackle Will Beatty played his first snaps as an Eagle and his first in the NFL since last season.

Eric Rowe tracker
We stopped the tracker a while ago because it became pretty clear Rowe wasn't going to hit 50 percent of the Patriots' defensive snaps. If that happened, the fourth-round pick the Eagles got back for him in the upcoming draft would have turned into a third. It's staying in the fourth round.

After a strong start, Rowe dealt with injury and missed a lot of time. He ended the regular season after playing 223 defensive snaps (22.2 percent) this season.

Oh well.
