Nick Foles Named Eagles' Starting QB for Week 2

Nick Foles will start again for the Eagles as they take on the Bucs in Tampa Bay Sunday at 1 p.m., head coach Doug Pederson announced Wednesday morning.

This is not a shock.

Offensive coordinator Mike Groh on Tuesday said the team had already decided on a starting quarterback for Sunday's game. We all sort of figured it would be Foles. Now it's official.

Carson Wentz is still recovering from surgery to repair the ACL and LCL he tore on Dec. 10 last season. An ESPN report from last week suggested it was more likely Wentz will be ready to play in Week 3 at home against the Colts.

Foles, 29, didn't get off to a hot start last week against the Falcons, but he did help the Eagles start their season off 1-0.

It's just that Foles didn't play very well. He completed just 56 percent of his passes for 117 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. Throughout his career, it always seems like either Good Foles or Bad Foles shows up. It was Bad Foles in Week 1.

His 50.7 passer rating is the lowest in his career in a start that he's won. He's had seven games with worse passer ratings and has lost all of them.

The good news is that things can turn on a dime for Foles. It's happened before in his career where he'll follow up a stinker with an incredible performance.

The key will probably be getting him in a rhythm early. Foles has said many, many times that "feel" is the most important part of the game for him. The Eagles will try to game plan as much as they can to get Foles into a better flow early on Sunday.
