Nick Foles Exits Jaguars' NFL Week 1 Game With Injury

Nick Foles' first game since leaving the Eagles did not go as he would have wanted.

The new Jaguars quarterback went down with a left shoulder injury Sunday and was ruled out of his team's opening game against the Chiefs.

The Super Bowl LII MVP tossed a beautiful touchdown pass to DJ Chark in the first quarter, but he was hit hard on the play.

The Jaguars gave the official word on Foles' injury after the game, and it's a serious one.

He's set to have surgery Monday and there's no timetable for his return, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco.

Foles finished 5 for 8 with 75 passing yards and that touchdown in his Jaguars debut. Gardner Minshew, the team's sixth-round draft pick this season, replaced Foles and went 22 for 25 with 275 yards passing, two touchdowns and an interception in Jacksonville's 40-26 loss.

Foles is in the first of a four-year deal with the Jaguars after the Eagles allowed him to become a free agent this offseason. The Eagles signed Carson Wentz to a four-year extension in June.
