Jets Pick Penn State QB Christian Hackenberg in 2nd Round

One of the biggest question marks of the draft is off the board - and early, too.

The Jets selected Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg with their second round pick, 51st overall on Friday.

Hackenberg was a huge question mark heading into the draft. Hackenberg flashed signs of greatness during his three seasons in Happy Valley, but struggled mightily with his decision-making and accuracy at times.

The 21-year-old had his best season as a freshman under coach Bill O'Brien - who is now the head coach of the Texans - when he threw 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions and completed 58.9 percent of his passes.

Hackenberg struggled after O'Brien left and James Franklin stepped in. He threw more interceptions than touchdowns as a sophomore, but bounced back nicely throwing 16 touchdowns to six interceptions in his final season as a Nittany Lion.

The Jets have a big hole at the quarterback position with Ryan Fitzpatrick a free agent, and Geno Smith and Bryce Petty under contract.
