BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Let's go ahead and pump the brakes on the quarterback controversy in Philly.
 
Carson Wentz is still the Eagles' franchise quarterback.
 
The last question tossed toward Doug Pederson at Monday morning's press conference in the Mall of America, the day after his team's 41-33 win in Super Bowl LII, was about whether or not Wentz is still his starting quarterback.
 
Pederson pretty clearly didn't want to even talk about it yet.
 
"You know what, we're just going to enjoy this moment right now," Pederson said. "We're going to enjoy it, get on a plane, go back to Philadelphia. We're going to celebrate with our fans back in Philly."
 
Foles played incredibly well in Super Bowl LII and even took home the MVP trophy because of it, but Wentz was the No. 2 pick and was on track to become the MVP of the league this season before his injury. There's a reason he was in the dead center spot when the Eagles took their team photo on Saturday. Everyone else was in numerical order.
 
The team is still his.
 
Pederson said he had a chance to speak with Wentz shortly after the game ended, while the Eagles were still celebrating on the field. 
 
"He's a great quarterback and he's a big reason why this team won this championship, won this game," Pederson said. "I told him that hopefully, we'll be back in this game with him leading the way."
 
Wentz is entering the third year of his rookie contract next season, while Foles is entering the second year of a two-year deal he signed in the last offseason with the Eagles. Had he just signed a one-year deal, there would likely be teams lining up for him.
 
The Eagles could theoretically trade Foles. They would probably get a pretty decent return and would save over $5 million in cap space. But Wentz is coming off a serious knee injury and while his goal is still to be ready by the opener, you never know.
 
Foles is the Super Bowl MVP. Not a bad insurance policy.
 
"I'm not really worried about my future right now," Foles said. "I'm grateful to be a part of the Philadelphia Eagles. I said when I signed with the Eagles, I'm grateful and content with this moment. I'm staying in the moment. I'm not worrying about my future now. There will be a time and a place to handle all that.
 
"But I take a lot of pride wearing the Philadelphia Eagles jersey and I just enjoy being here. It's such a great team. I'm excited for Carson Wentz coming back healthy. I get to work with him every day."
