The real deal?

The Eagles pulled off a big 34-13 win over the Giants at MetLife Stadium last Thursday night. I think it was a big victory. I know the Giants stink, but the Eagles still went on the road and beat a division rival on a short week. That deserves some credit. The question is: how much?

The Eagles looked like they were back to their 2017 form on Thursday. The offense clicked, the defense did its job and even special teams made some plays. It was the best all-around performance we've seen from the Eagles in some time, probably since the NFC Championship Game. But was it real or are the Giants just that bad? The Panthers will be a good test of that.

Stopping Cam

Whenever a team plays the Panthers, it's all about stopping Cam Newton. If Newton has a good game, he can take over. If he has a bad game, the Panthers are extremely beatable. It's hard to know which guy will show up, but Newton hasn't been good historically against the Eagles. In fact, his passer rating of 69.4 against the Eagles is his worst passer rating against any team in the NFL.

But stopping Newton requires stopping him as a runner too - or at least slowing him down. The Eagles have to make sure they stay disciplined and don't let Newton beat them in the air or on the ground.

Wentz getting better

In every single game Carson Wentz has played this season, he's gotten better. That should be scary for every team remaining on the Eagles' schedule. He's rounding back into the form that made him a legit MVP candidate last season. He's not going to slow down.
