Eagles Sign Undrafted OT Casey Tucker After Successful Tryout

The Eagles roster is full again at 90 players on Wednesday morning after they signed undrafted rookie Casey Tucker.

Tucker (6-6, 308) had college experience as an offensive guard and tackle, but the Eagles are listing him as a tackle. He was one of several tryout players at rookie minicamp earlier this month. A week ago, the Eagles signed OL Johnny Gibson, who was also a tryout player.

So two of three offensive linemen on tryouts made the most of their three days.

The Eagles came into an extra roster spot with the retirement of Chris Long over the weekend. After filling it with Tucker, the roster is full at 90. They won't have to get down to 53 until Aug. 31.

So what are the Eagles getting in Tucker?

Well, the big offensive lineman began his college career at Stanford and finished at Arizona State as a graduate student. During his entire college career, Tucker played in 39 games. As a senior at ASU, he played left tackle, left guard and right tackle.

Here's what NFL.com's Lance Zierlein wrote about Tucker during the pre-draft process:

On paper, the pedigree looks solid with good. Tucker was a starter at Stanford before this past season at Arizona State, he has starting experience at both tackle spots and at guard and he has NFL size. On tape, it never materializes like it needs to. His athletic limitations are going to be difficult to overcome against athletic linemen in tight quarters and there isn't enough bend to generate consistent power.

It's hard to imagine Tucker making the Eagles' 53-man roster. The Birds have so much depth at tackle now that they are cross-training Halapoulivaati Vaitai to play guard. Even undrafted Ryan Bates from Penn State should be ahead of Tucker on the depth chart. But Tucker will be a camp body and he already impressed the Eagles enough to stick around once. Maybe he can do it again and earn a practice squad spot this summer.
