An important part of the Super Bowl team is back in the fold.
The Eagles on Sunday signed veteran safety Corey Graham to a one-year deal, bringing back a player who gives the Eagles great depth in the secondary.
Graham, 33, signed a one-year deal around this time last year, so it was always very possible he'd return.
"If it works out, we'd love to have him," head coach Doug Pederson said about Graham this offseason. "His veteran leadership brings a level of not only competition, but depth to the safety room, so if it works out, it would be great."
Immediately, Graham will come in and be able to take over third safety duties for the Eagles. Second-year player Tre Sullivan had been in that role for the beginning of camp, but it always seemed likely this return from Graham would happen. His familiarity with Jim Schwartz's defense makes this easy.
The reason the third safety is so important is because it allows the Eagles to maximize Malcolm Jenkins' versatility. Jenkins can play nickel corner but also a hybrid linebacker role. But he can only do that if Schwartz is comfortable enough with a different safety coming on the field. He's comfortable with Graham.
Last season, Graham played 36 percent of defensive snaps in the regular season and 60 percent in the three playoff games, including 64 of 76 in Super Bowl LII. He's a big part of the championship team and was often overlooked.

The Eagles made a few other moves on Sunday too. They also signed 6-foot-7 tight end Gannon Sinclair to a one-year deal. Sinclair has been bouncing around from team to team since 2015, when he came out of Missouri State.
To make room for Graham and Sinclair, the Eagles waived/injured TE Adam Zaruba and waived rookie safety Ryan Neal.
