Eagles Draft Picks Get New Jersey Numbers for Rookie Camp

The Eagles have 45 players in house for this weekend's rookie minicamp, but only eight of them are members of the 2017 draft class.

Those new rookies picked up some new jersey numbers as Eagles:

10. Mack Hollins
22. Sidney Jones
32. Rasul Douglas
34. Donnel Pumphrey
47. Nathan Gerry
80. Shelton Gibson
96. Derek Barnett
98. Elijah Qualls

10. Mack Hollins
The fourth-round pick gets No. 10, which just recently came available when the Eagles released veteran backup Chase Daniel. The one player to own the number between Daniel and DeSean Jackson? Good trivia question, huh? Receiver Jonathan Krause, who was Jordan Matthews' teammate at Vanderbilt.

22. Sidney Jones
There's no telling how soon we'll actually see Jones wearing No. 22 on the field, but fans are going to hope he'll look better than Nolan Carroll did at times in 2016. Before Carroll had 22, it belonged to Brandon Boykin, Asante Samuel and Joselio Hanson. Of course, 22 once belonged to Eagles running backs coach Duce Staley.

32. Rasul Douglas
Let's see if Douglas, a third-rounder, can hold onto 32 longer than the last guy, Eric Rowe, who was traded out of town before the start of last year, went to New England, and won a Super Bowl. Before Rowe, 32 was donned by Chris Polk and Owen Schmitt. Once the number of Ricky Watters.

34. Donnel Pumphrey
Fourth-round pick Pumphrey gets the No. 34, worn most recently by Kenjon Barber, who was with the Eagles in 2015 and 2016 before being allowed to walk as a free agent this offseason. Before Barner took it, 34 was worn by Bryce Brown, Ronnie Brown, Eldra Buckley and Reno Mahe. The last 1,000-yard back to wear 34 was Herschel Walker in 1992.

47. Nathan Gerry
Wait, I thought Trey Burton was 47? Well, Burton has moved to 88 for the upcoming season, which allowed Gerry to snag the seldom-used 47.

80. Shelton Gibson
The fifth-round pick grabs one of the most classic receiver numbers, but it hasn't been used a ton with the Eagles. The last to wear it in a game? Ron Johnson, then Kevin Curtis, James Thrash, Billy McMullen, Torrance Small and Irving Fryar.

96. Derek Barnett
The rookie first-round pick gets the number left behind by Bennie Logan, who left in free agency to join the Chiefs on a one-year deal this offseason. Before Logan, 96 was owned by Greg Lloyd, Omar Gaither and Paul Grasmanis. The most famous member of the 96 club is former All-Pro Clyde Simmons.

98. Elijah Qualls
The sixth-round pick comes in and gets Connor Barwin's old number, which was Mike Patterson's for years before him. In 1967, tight end Mike Ditka wore 98 for a season.
