Eagles' Pick Received in Jon Dorenbos Trade Returned to Saints

As expected, the seventh-round pick the Eagles received in the trade for long snapper Jon Dorenbos has been returned to the Saints, according to ESPN and 94-WIP.

The Saints on Friday announced that Dorenbos needs heart surgery to correct an aortic aneurysm.

The Eagles traded the 37-year-old Dorenbos to the Saints on Aug. 28. Dorenbos played in 162 games in an Eagles uniform, sixth-most in franchise history.

Trades typically are rescinded in these situations. The Eagles in 2011 traded running back Ronnie Brown to the Lions for running back Jerome Harrison, but the deal was nullified when Eagles team physicians discovered that Harrison had a brain tumor and needed immediate surgery. Harrison never played football again.

Central New Jersey native Rick Lovato beat out Dorenbos for the long snapping job this preseason.
