Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins to Be Awarded Key to Camden

Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins will be awarded a key to the city of Camden in a ceremony at City Hall on Oct. 1

Because of his community contributions, Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins will be awarded a key to the city of Camden in a ceremony at City Hall on Monday.

Jenkins, through The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation, has supported the "youth and the underserved" in Camden and is now being recognized.

Earlier this year, Jenkins' foundation partnered with Feed the Children and other partners for "Get Ready Fest" at the Antioch Baptist Church in Camden. The event provided "hundreds of pre-identified families with 25 pounds of food, 10 pounds of essential items, as well as health and wellness products," according to a press release.

This is quite an honor for Jenkins, who has been active in the community since the Eagles signed him back in 2014.

Here was Jenkins' statement from the press release:

It is truly an honor to be receiving a Key to the City of Camden. Earlier this year during The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation ‘Get Ready Fest' here in Camden we were inspired by the people of this city, and once again I find myself reminded by Mayor Moran, City Council, elected officials, Pastor John O. Parker, and the entire city to try and always lead by example.

Jenkins began his foundation back in 2010 with a mission to help youth and the underserved, especially in the areas of the country that mean the most to Jenkins. That includes New Jersey (his home state), Columbus, Ohio (where he went to Ohio State), New Orleans (where he played for the Saints) and now Philadelphia and the surrounding areas.
