Eagles Injury Updates: Haloti Ngata, Tim Jernigan, Darren Sproles and More

Updated: 4:11 p.m.

After a mini-bye week, the Eagles will be back on the practice field at 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Here's an updated look at their injury situation:

Did not practice: D.J. Alexander (quad), Rasul Douglas (not injury related), Nate Gerry (ankle, knee), Corey Graham (hamstring), Lane Johnson (ankle), Sidney Jones (hamstring), Darren Sproles (hamstring)

Limited participants: Derek Barnett (shoulder), Haloti Ngata (calf), Jason Peters (biceps), Carson Wentz (back)

Wentz's injury is nothing to worry about. He was held out of a few snaps in Wednesday's practice but is expected to be a full-go Thursday.

The Eagles' big defensive tackle has missed the last two games with a calf injury but it seems like there's a chance Ngata could be back Sunday for the game against the Panthers. He practiced Wednesday.

"I would say that Ngata is getting close, day to day still, getting better," Pederson said. "We'll see where he's at this week, later in the week."

The Eagles are extremely light at defensive tackle, so having Ngata would help a ton. After they waived/injured Destiny Vaeao on Tuesday, the Eagles are down to three defensive tackles on the roster: Fletcher Cox, Ngata and Treyvon Hester.

Pederson said the Eagles have a plan at defensive tackle for Sunday that the coaching staff is comfortable with, but he declined to disclose that plan.

Tim Jernigan

The Eagles have missed Jernigan a ton this season as he's still on the Non-football Injury list. Jernigan (back) is eligible to begin practice this week but isn't ready, according to Pederson.

There's still a chance he might play this season, though.

"We're hopeful and optimistic, but at the same time, we want to make sure that he's healthy," Pederson said.

Jason Peters

The Eagles' veteran left tackle practiced Wednesday and will presumably play against the Panthers on Sunday (see story). Peters suffered a biceps injury against the Giants and already had a quad injury. Now, he's going to play through both.

When asked if they might think about resting Peters for a week or two, Pederson flatly said no. He insisted there's no reason to sit Peters and thinks he'll be fine to play.

Darren Sproles

The 35-year-old running back/return man hasn't played since injuring his hamstring in practice after the season opener. Pederson wouldn't say whether or not Sproles will practice this week, but said Sproles is day-to-day.

Corey Graham

After getting injured early in the Vikings game, Graham sat out the Giants game with a hamstring injury. Pederson said Graham is day to day and didn't practice Wednesday.

Lane Johnson

When asked if Johnson is "OK to practice," Pederson said yes. But then he was asked if Johnson was "going to practice" and Pederson wasn't so sure. Some fun with semantics. Johnson has a high-ankle sprain that he played through for three quarters against the Giants. Pederson said they'll just monitor that ankle throughout the day. Johnson might be limited during the week, but you can bet he'll try to play through it again on Sunday. Johnson was on the field Wednesday but didn't have a helmet, likely indicating he wasn't going to practice. Halapoulivaati Vaitai was taking reps at right tackle.
