Eagles Injury Update: Still No Fletcher Cox Or Wendell Smallwood

As the Eagles got on the practice field on Thursday, they were still without two major contributors.

Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox (calf) and running back Wendell Smallwood (knee) both missed practice for the second straight day.

It's rare for players to miss the entire week of practice and play in that weekend's game, so Friday will be a big day for Cox and Smallwood's availability going into Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Cox missed last Sunday's game in Los Angeles, while Smallwood must have been injured during it.

Against the Chargers, Smallwood had a pretty decent game. He carried the ball 10 times for 34 yards, but also caught four passes for 45. His contributions in the pass game, because of the loss of Darren Sproles, would be missed.

Head coach Doug Pederson has claimed Cox is "day to day" but Cox hasn't practiced or played since getting hurt in the first half of the Giants game two weeks ago. In his place, Beau Allen started against the Chargers.

While Cox and Smallwood were still out on Thursday, defensive tackle Tim Jernigan (heel contusion) returned after missing Wednesday's session. Pederson said Jernigan wasn't in jeopardy of missing this Sunday's game.

Destiny Vaeao (wrist), who was limited on Wednesday, was back on the field for the second straight day on Thursday. So were Wednesday's full participants on the injury report: Corey Graham (hamstring), Jaylen Watkins (hamstring), Rodney McLeod (hamstring) and Jordan Hicks (ankle). It appears Graham and Watkins are on target to play against the Cardinals after missing two weeks.
