Eagles Injury Update: Lane Johnson Expected to Play Sunday Vs. Saints

After missing last week's loss to the Cowboys, right tackle Lane Johnson is expected to play this weekend, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

The Eagles hoped Johnson would be able to play last week through his sprained MCL, but he was held out and Halapoulivaati Vaitai started in his place. Johnson has been limited in practice this week.

"He's a lot closer," Pederson said. "He's had a really good week of practice. Feels a lot better health-wise, so I would expect him to go, yes."

Tim Jernigan
Jernigan is still on the Non-football Injury list, so the Eagles would need to make a roster move before he's able to play. Pederson said he's "still optimistic" Jernigan will be able to play this weekend.

"It's just kind of day by day and get through the practice and see where he's at," Pederson said.

Jernigan has been rotating in with the starters during practice this week.

Richard Rodgers
The Eagles' tight end, who is still on IR, is in a similar situation as Jernigan. It seems possible he'll be added to the 53-man roster before Sunday. Josh Perkins has a "significant" knee injury, which is why the Eagles designated Rodgers for return.

Sidney Jones
Pederson said Jones is in a "better situation" than Jernigan. They want to see how Jones responds to a week of practice, but Jones himself said he's playing this weekend. He hasn't played since he left the Giants game after eight snaps.
