Eagles DB Rasul Douglas Takes Bowling Very Seriously

Each week during the season, we're going through the Eagles' media guide and finding an interesting nugget.

This week, we chatted with cornerback Rasul Douglas.

The media guide says his favorite hobby is bowling.

Me: Bowling? Is that true?

Douglas: Yeah, I got my balls in my car.

Me: Are you good at it?

RD: 220 average.

Me: Oh wow, that's pretty good.

RD: Yeah, that's good.

Me: Did you grow up playing a lot?

RD: When I was younger, I was in a league. When I was younger around 9, 10, 11, 12, played in a league. Had a couple jackets, shoes, balls. That was when I was in the league though. Then I kind of stopped when I got to high school and stuff. Now, I just kind of do it for fun. I got my balls.

Me: You keep them in your car all the time?

RD: Yeah, I'll just go some days, like when I'm home or we don't got practice. I'll go offseason with my friends. Some days when we're not playing football, we just go bowling.

Me: What size ball do you use? Do you spin?

RD: I got a 14 and a 13. Yeah, my ball spins. I mean, if you bowl a straight ball, you're not going to be that good. You can't pick up no spares with no straight ball unless you got, like, one up.

Me: That's true. You ever go bowling with any guys on the team?

RD: Nah. I know Rod (McLeod) had an event where they went bowling. I would never try to like bowl serious when I'm at an event. I would just get a house ball and just throw it regularly. I'd probably bowl with my left hand. Because I'm a competitor, so…

Me: You get too competitive?

RD: Yeah, so I would never bring my ball to the event or anything like that.

Me: What's the best game you've ever bowled?

RD: Maybe like a 260 or something like that. About a year ago. It's just something you gotta keep doing it. It's different when you're bowling with like six guys, because you bowl and then you gotta wait. If they're talking to your friends or they're doing that, it slows you down. Normally, when you bowl a good score…

Me: You're by yourself?

RD: Yeah, and you keep on swinging. You might go through a few warmup games and after that, you're throwing them and start hitting.
