How did Terrell Owens and Brian Dawkins come up short in their quest to be selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame?
Well, Quick Slants had the perfect guy to ask on the show Monday night. The Philadelphia Daily News' Paul Domowitch, who is the Hall of Fame voter from Philadelphia, joined Derrick Gunn and Reuben Frank. The video of the appearance can be seen above.
Dawkins, 43, did not make the cut from the top 10 to the top five, but because the results of the voting are not disclosed, Domowitch didn't know where he ranked after the top five.
"Judging from my conversations with everyone in the room, everything was positive about him, so I think he was probably pretty close to the top five," Domowitch said. "What basically happened with Dawk, I think, is that he and John Lynch ended up splitting the vote and it kind of cost both of them. I also thought that because of some of the people that were still on the ballot after the first reduction vote, like Morten Andersen and Ty Law and Kevin Mawae, I mean people you thought weren't expecting to make the Hall of Fame, and Terrell Davis, that I thought Lynch and Dawk might both slip in and get selected, but that didn't happen."
As far as Terrell Owens, CSNBayArea's Matt Maiocco presented the receiver to the group. This was Maiocco's first time as a voter. Despite Maiocco's best efforts, Owens didn't make it into the top 10.
"Well, it has nothing to do with his numbers," Domowitch said. "Just like last year."

Domo said he tried to convince other voters that TO's numbers were so overwhelming that his disruptions in the locker room shouldn't prevent him from getting in. That didn't work. And while Domowitch thought last year was just a slap on the wrist, he now thinks many voters are "entrenched" in their opinions of Owens. He might not get in for a while.
