Carson Wentz to Eagles Pre-draft: ‘Make It Happen'

The Eagles selected Carson Wentz with the No. 2 overall pick on Thursday.

It wasn't much of a surprise. The Eagles wanted him and once they traded up to the No. 2 spot, they knew they were going to get him.

Now, we know it was Wentz's command.

The Eagles released a video of the phone call placed to Wentz just before the pick was submitted. Most of it is what you'd expect, congratulations and the staff saying they can't wait to work with him.

But offensive coordinator Frank Reich told an interesting story when he got the phone.

"You know, all I was thinking about today was when you were here in the building and the way we finished our meeting," Reich said. "And we were like, 'Man, we'd love to have you in this room.' And you looked at us and said, 'Hey, make it happen.' So, we did. Mr. (Jeffrey) Lurie and Howie (Roseman), they made it happen and, man, we're so excited."

Reich was the fourth person to get the phone during the call. First, Roseman spoke with Wentz to deliver the news. He was followed by Lurie, head coach Doug Pederson, Reich and finally quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo.
