Carson Wentz Gets Sports Illustrated Cover Treatment

Quarterbacks were drafted with the first two picks of the 2016 NFL Draft so it's no surprise Sports Illustrated opted to highlight the position with their covers this week.

Philadelphia Eagles' new quarterback Carson Wentz is featured on one of three covers the magazine produced with QBs on the cover this week. First overall selection Jared Goff and Denver Broncos' new signal caller Paxton Lynch are also featured on regional covers.

The main cover story is titled, "Art of the Deals: How QBs Goff, Wentz, and Lynch got drafted."

Part of it details Wentz' rise from obscure football player in North Dakota that was virtually unknown nationally all the way to the top of the NFL Draft:

Wentz secured legendary status in North Dakota in January when he led the Bison to their fifth straight FCS championship, 11 weeks after having surgery on his broken right wrist. He could've bailed on the team to be fully healed in time for the NFL combine. Instead, his loyalty and grit sparked a dramatic rise in his stock, which continued to soar at the Senior Bowl. Says Howie Roseman, the Eagles' executive VP of football ops, "I was struck by the presence he had, the leadership he showed in a setting with all sorts of guys from bigger schools."

There's also quite a bit on how different teams viewed, ranked, and worked out all of the top-rated QBs in the draft. Teams saw all of the QBs differently. It's an interesting read if you're into draft geekery.
