Fear not, Eagles fans. The season is not over.
Thanks, entirely, to the sorry state of the NFC East.
A week ago, Washington seemingly had this division on lock. A week before that, Dallas was considered dead and buried. A week from now we could be talking about the Eli Manning Giants as the hottest team in the division.
The point is, with over a quarter of the season remaining… including three straight games against NFC East opponents… the Birds season is hardly over.
Also, just a friendly reminder, we won the Super Bowl. This is fact. Here's what's happening this week in the NFC East...
New York Giants (3-7)
ICYMI: Who needs draft position when you can win a meaningless game in November? The Giants did what the Birds couldn't, beating Ryan FitzMagic and the Bucs in a shootout, 38-35 (albeit in Jersey).
Philadelphia Eagles

Spin: Wins like this only hurt their chances of landing a franchise QB in next year's draft, which is the only thing that matters for this franchise in 2018. So, naturally, they seem intent on messing it up.
Sure, they could run the table, end at 9-7, and win the division (earning the privilege of losing at home to Carolina). In fact, outside of an Eagles comeback, that's the best possible scenario for this division. LET'S GO ELI!
What's Next: The Birds this Sunday. If they're smart, they'll get back to process-trustin' form, and quick.
Washington (6-4)
ICYMI: The Washington Football Team fell to the AFC South-leading Houston Texans, but the big storyline is the compound fracture suffered by 34-year-old quarterback Alex Smith, who is now out for the season. Smith is a professional, and we take no joy in a human being's injury. We do, however, take joy knowing Washington must pay Smith $71-million through 2021 whether he plays or not.
Backup Colt McCoy may not be too big of a drop-off, but to be safe, Washington signed Mark Sanchez, presumably to help with Colin Kaepernick's collusion case.
Spin: McCoy can do what Smith did, and he's beaten Dallas in this role before. Despite the shake-up, Washington will be pretty hard to catch if they beat ‘dem Boys on Thanksgiving.
What's Next: Washington's run defense will need to be better if they're gonna stand a chance at slowing down Zeke.
Dallas Cowboys (5-5)
ICYMI: Despite a number of missed opportunities, Dallas snuck out of Atlanta with a victory, beating the one-time playoff contender 22-19. They've now won two in a row, are back at .500, and are the betting-mans favorite to win the division.
Spin: Leighton Vander Esch is the Unbreakable to Sean Lee's Mr. Glass. Zeke is a Pro Bowler again. Jerry Jones is Executive of the Year for bringing in Amari Cooper, and Jason Garrett is a mastermind for figuring out how to use him. Dark days are upon us, as the sky falls, children weep, and trumpets sound.
Or…. and I may be crazy here… but this is still a 5-5 team that has the same foundational issues we all laughed at two weeks ago when they seemed dead in the water. A lot can change quickly in the NFL, a reality the Birds (and their fans) should keep in mind.
What's Next: Thanksgiving matchup against Washington. Do yourself a favor, and plan your dinner accordingly.
