ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The first step in Cardale Jones' development in Buffalo began with the Bills focusing on the rookie quarterback's first step.
"We started switching up my feet a little bit," Jones said after taking the field for the first time since the Ohio State player was selected by the Bills in the fourth round of the NFL draft.
"I'm used to staggering my left foot and then taking a fall step, and that's even worse," Jones added Friday, when the Bills opened a three-day rookie camp. "Just trying to break the habit. It shouldn't be too hard just because I learned the habit three months ago."
Everything is essentially raw and undeveloped about Jones. And that has led to the Bills taking a start-from-scratch approach in their bid to develop a quarterback who displayed vast potential and glaring inexperience during what boiled down to a flash-in-the-pan three-year college career.
Making the tremendous jump from third-stringer to starter during his sophomore season, Jones went 11-0, including leading the Buckeyes to win the 2015 national championship. And yet, that wasn't enough to relieve lingering concerns about his decision making and accuracy; Jones was benched after seven starts last season (see full story).
Chiefs: Hill arrives at minicamp amid controversy
KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Chiefs rookie Tyreek Hill says that fans have every right to be mad at him after his domestic abuse case. But he insists he has changed and is trying to make the most of a second chance.
The Chiefs drafted the speedy return man in the fifth round, despite Hill pleading guilty last August to abusing and strangling his pregnant girlfriend. The draft choice was sharply criticized by many fans on social media, with some saying they would boycott Chiefs games.

Hill joined other rookies in Kansas City on Saturday for the start of a three-day minicamp.
Hill said he met with Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, general manager John Dorsey and coach Andy Reid, and that they all told him to work hard and wished him luck (see full story).
Jaguars: Ramsey willing to give 'shoes, cash' for No. 23
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey is wearing No. 38 during the team's rookie camp. He can't wait to get rid of it.
The fifth overall pick in the NFL draft wants to wear No. 23 in 2016. Getting it probably is going to cost him, and Ramsey is ready to pay whatever it takes.
"Honestly, shoes, cash, everything," he said Friday.
Safety James Sample, a second-year player from Louisville, currently has No. 23. Sample wore it last season, although he missed 12 games because of forearm and shoulder injuries (see full story).
Giants: Williams getting long-shot tryout
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- To say that Ishaq Williams is a long shot to make the New York Giants might be an understatement.
Players who come to rookie and free agent minicamps in the spring on a tryout basis usually don't make it past the three-day camp.
Williams has greater odds. The one-time Notre Dame lineman/linebacker has not played in roughly two years after being cited in an academic fraud investigation involving five players.
He played in an All-Star game in Texas in January, but that's been the extent of his football. He was able to keep his scholarship and is close to graduating, but it wasn't easy. He ballooned to 290 or so pounds and only recently got down to 253 (see full story).
