Eagles Reach Contract Agreements With 5 Draft Picks

The Eagles didn't waste much time getting most of their 2016 draft class under contract.

On Wednesday, the team reached terms with running back Wendell Smallwood (fifth round, 153rd overall), safety Blake Countess (sixth, 196), safety Jalen Mills (seventh, 233), defensive end Alex McCalister (seventh, 240) and linebacker Joe Walker (seventh, 251).

All of the deals are for four years, which is standard.

That leaves just three of eight - first-rounder Carson Wentz, third-rounder Isaac Seumalo and fifth-rounder Halapoulivaati Vaiti - left to sign.

The Eagles kick off their rookie minicamp on May 13 and it runs for three days. The veterans won't join the rookies in practice until May 17, when OTAs begin.
