NEW YORK - The New York Jets have exercised their fifth-year option on defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson, keeping him under contract with the team through the 2017 season.
The team also has announced Monday that it has declined the option, as expected, on oft-injured cornerback Dee Milliner, making the 2013 first-round draft pick a free agent after this season.
Richardson has 16 1/2 career sacks and was the 2013 Defensive Rookie of the Year after being selected 13th overall, four spots after the Jets took Milliner. Richardson's immediate playing future is uncertain because he faces possible discipline from the NFL after being arrested last July and later pleading guilty in January to resisting arrest. He was suspended the first four games last season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
Milliner has missed 27 games his first three seasons because of injuries.
Titans decline Warmack's option
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Titans have declined to pick up the fifth-year option for guard Chance Warmack, giving the 10th overall draft pick in 2013 the chance to convince them he should stick around after this season.
The Titans announced the decision Monday.
General manager Jon Robinson said in a statement this is the best move as the Titans manage the roster and salary cap. He says they informed Warmack and his agent Monday morning.

Picking up the option would have cost the Titans more than $11 million. Warmack has started 46 games since being drafted out of Alabama, but the Titans need to improve both their run blocking and pass protection after winning just five games the past two years combined. The Titans just drafted two offensive linemen.
Lions pick up Ansah's option
ALLEN PARK, Mich. - The Detroit Lions have exercised the fifth-year option for 2017 on defensive end Ziggy Ansah.
The Lions drafted Ansah with the fifth overall pick in 2013, and he's been one of the top young pass rushers in the game. He had 14 sacks last season and earned second-team All-Pro honors from The Associated Press. He also became the first Lions defensive end to be selected to the Pro Bowl since 2002.
Ansah has 30 sacks in three seasons.
The Lions also announced Monday that they have signed free agent linebacker Zaviar Gooden.
Chief pick up Fisher's option
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Chiefs have exercised their fifth-year option on left tackle Eric Fisher, which means the former No. 1 overall draft pick is scheduled to make $11.9 million during the 2017 season.
The Chiefs had until Monday to decide on the option, which becomes fully guaranteed next March.
Chiefs general manager John Dorsey has said he would like to sign Fisher to a long-term deal, and the decision to pick up the pricey option may simply be part of the negotiation process.
Fisher had a disappointing first two seasons in the NFL, and some were quick to label the Central Michigan product a bust. But the 6-foot-7, 305-pound lineman appeared to break through last season, even shutting down Texans star pass rusher J.J. Watt during their playoff game.
