CBP No Longer No. 1 for Veggies

The home of the Phillies is no long the best “Vegetarian-Friendly Ballpark,” according to PETA. But despite falling from its perch, Citizens Bank Park is still a great place for vegetarian food, PETA says.

After four years on top, CBP dropped to second on PETA’s Top 10 Vegetarian-Friendly Ballparks list.

And to add insult to injury the same team that knocked the Phillies out of the playoffs last season boosts the only ballpark better for Veggies than CBP.

“Ousting the Phils from the throne after lying in wait for four years in second place is the San Francisco Giants' AT&T Park, which offers a bevy of veggie options.

But hold on what about the veggie heater, bean burger, hummus, smoothies and even PB&J sandwiches that put CBP on top?

PETA seems to be leaning towards the Giants World Series win as being a big reason why AT&T Park is now No. 1:

The only thing sweeter than a World Series championship is knowing that no animals had to suffer for a tasty ballpark meal. Mouthwatering meat-free options at AT&T Park include veggie dogs, veggie burgers, portobello mushroom sandwiches, meatless burritos, grilled vegetable sandwiches, and noodles with ginger, sesame, and veggies.

But don’t think that the animal rights group doesn’t still appreciate the fare at CBP:

"It's hard to tell what's more loaded: the Phillies' starting rotation or Citizens Bank Park's vegetarian menu," says PETA Associate Director Chris Holbein. "With so many great animal- and health-friendly vegetarian options available, eating smart while cheering on the Phillies has never been easier."

Comerica Park (Detroit Tigers), Turner Field (Atlanta Braves), Coors Field (Colorado Rockies), Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum (Oakland Athletics), PETCO Park (San Diego Padres), Angel Stadium (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim), Minute Maid Park (Houston Astros), and Miller Park (Milwaukee Brewers) round out the Top 10.

And just in case you were wondering despite all this vegetarian talk the hot dog is still king. Total Hatfield Phillies Franks Dollar Dog Nights this season = 6. Total veggie nights = 0. You just can’t stop the tradition of a dog at the ballpark it seems.
