Eagles QB Carson Wentz Is Wearing Bible Verse Cleats This Week

Perhaps you've heard about how NFL players are "allowed" to wear cleats with charity messaging this week.

Here's how the NFL explains it:

NFL players will have the chance to share the causes that are important to them during all Week 13 games, as part of the NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats campaign. The initiative is a culmination of 18 months of collaborative work between the NFL and players across the league, and it includes an online storytelling platform, in partnership with The Players’ Tribune.

Carson Wentz and the Eagles are getting in on the fun.

Wentz and a number of his teammates wore the cleats you see below at practice on Wednesday. He shared the image on his Twitter account.

They include a bible verse, Romans 5:8, and "AO1" which stands for "audience of one." The latter is something of a motto for Wentz.

Here's how he once explained it, via ESPN:

"It was kind of a motto I picked up early in my career, and I finally put it on my body just to live the Lord as my audience," Wentz has explained, "whether it was playing football, going to school or whatever I'm doing in my life."

As for Romans 5:8?

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Wentz has yet to say what charity the money they raise from auctioning them will go to.
