Eagles Will Tame Bengals: NBC10 “Experts”

Both teams look to avenge 13-13 tie from 4 seasons ago

What does one little win do?

It seems to change the minds of football pro prognosticators that had en masses picked against the Eagles last week.

That’s right, just 4 days after the Eagles bucked their losing trend with a last-second 23-21 win in Tampa Bay, 75 percent of NBC10’s football-picking “experts” backed the Birds to beat the Bengals on Thursday Night Football.

Sales guy Corey expects momentum to play a role in this game (note the 7-6 Bengals lost to the Cowboys on a late field goal on Sunday).

“Look for The Eagles to continue their “hot streak” and rally around QB Nick Foles following the dramatic comeback last week.  Eagles 24, Bengals 13.”

“Can they build on that success?” asks photojournalist Rich. “I for one am back on the bandwagon and I believe they can. Quarterback Nick Foles gives the Birds hope; and their defense played better than it has all season. Philadelphia gets to play spoiler at home and end the Bengals playoff hopes with a 27-20 victory. Choo choo!”

Foles’ game-winning drive and composure has other “experts” feeling good.

“Foles continues to improve, Bryce Brown rumbles for 100 yards, and the receivers FINALLY start getting their touches,” said reporter Tim Furlong. “Eagles win 21-17.”

Picking the Birds to prevail is trendy again.

“What the heck, Eagles 20-17. Now they have something to prove,” said graphics guy Derek.

"Last week, I was swayed by the masses, picked the Bucs, and the Eagles punished me for it,” said Birds’ Nest blogger Ryan Wilson. “This week, I'm taking Philly. I think they're much better than their record (they'd have to be, right?), Foles improves each game, and Brown has been mostly amazing (obvious exception: the turnovers). Eagles 21, Bengals 17."

But not everyone is drinking the green Kool-Aid:

“Eagles keep it close, but ultimately fall 24-22,” said Birds’ Nester Brian Solomon.

I almost picked the Birds and Bengals to tie 13-13 -- just in hopes that somewhere Donovan McNabb would once again ask, 'that can happen?' -- but I am too big a fan of A.J. Green to do that. I expect the (arguably) Top 5 wideout to have a big game as Andy Dalton and “The Law Firm” Bengarvus Green-Ellis control the clock as Cincy holds onto playoff hopes with a 27-24 win.
