Reports: Freddy Adu to Join Philly Union

The announcement of the move is expected Friday

Another star free agent signing in Philly, and it's not the Eagles or Phillies.

According to Fox Soccer and SoccerbyIves.net, former child phenom Freddy Adu is set to re-join Major League Soccer to play for the Philadelphia Union. An official announcement is expected Friday, though the team did not respond to NBC Philadelphia's initial request for comment.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who was in town Wednesday for the U.S. Men's National team game against Mexico, apparently liked what he saw.

If you recall, Adu was the youngest athlete to sign a professional contract when at 14 he signed with D.C. United and is a two-time MLS All-Star. Adu last played with Turkish Second Division team Çaykur Rizespor. By joining the Union, he'll be reunited with his former coach in D.C., Peter Nowak.
