A Giant Mess

Who's to blame for the Eagles inability to win close games?

Another close NFC East game -- another tough-to-swallow loss. The Eagles lose -- at home! -- to the New york Giants 36-31 after failing to convert another late 4th and 1.

So it goes for the 2008 Eagles as the season seems destined to be another one that has gone to the birds.

The question remains: Who's to blame for the Eagles inability to win close games?

Is it Head Coach Andy Reid? How about quarterback Donovan McNabb? The porous offensive line? Maybe the lack of a "big" runner or a "shutdown" linebacker?

Whatever is causing the Eagles to fail in close games can't seem to be pinned on just one player or one coach.

The entire organization's game plan seems to have become stale. What was once the self-proclaimed "gold standard" of the NFL and NFC East is now just a golden retriever fetching the scraps from the rest of the division.

The playoffs seem unlikely for the Birds being that they are in last place in the NFC East and are looking up at a half dozen teams in the Wildcard chase.

The Eagles need an overhaul after this lost season comes to a close.

Who will go remains to be seen.
