A Spectator's Guide to the 2018 BMW Championship

Local golf fans, rejoice! The top 70 golfers in the world are coming to our area next week.

The 2018 BMW Championship, the third of four FedEx Cup playoff events on the PGA Tour, is being held in Newtown Square Sept. 4 through 9.

Planning to attend the event? Here are some things you need to know.

Location

The 2018 BMW Championship will be held at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square. For a map of the course, click here.

Tickets

Individual and group tickets are available for purchase online here. According to the BMW Championship website, tickets will also be available at the main entrance, but the prices will likely be increased compared to online purchases. Children aged 16 and under receive free admission when accompanied by an adult, and there are military discounts available. Re-entry is not permitted, and all ticket sales are final.

Parking

Complimentary parking will be available to spectators at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks. Anyone who wants to utilize the free parking must register here for a parking pass prior to arrival.

Upgraded parking is available Saturday and Sunday only at Delaware County Community College in Media, and must be purchased in advance here. BMW owners can utilize a limited amount of parking reserved specifically for people driving their BMW to the tournament and can register here. For spectators being dropped off and picked up, there is a Pick-Up/Drop-Off location at The Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square. There will be shuttles running from the public parking lot and the drop-off spot to the course and back. For more transportation and parking information, click here.

What to Bring

Spectators are allowed to bring bags, but only ones that adhere to the bag policy. Cameras are permitted during the practice rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday only. Cell phones are also allowed, as long as they follow the PGA Tour's Mobile Device Policy. Wheelchairs, motorized chairs and child strollers are also allowed. Smoking is allowed, but spectators are asked to stay 20 feet away from any permanent or temporary structures while smoking. There is a lost and found located at the Main Entrance.

The following items are prohibited:

  • Bags not adhering to the bag policy
  • Computers or laptops
  • Video cameras
  • Weapons of any nature
  • Outside food or beverage

Players

The top 70 players in the FedExCup standings after the Dell Technologies Championship are eligible to play in the BMW Championship, and there is an autograph area adjacent to the putting green. According to the BMW Championship website, players are most likely to sign autographs during practice rounds.

Merchandise

There is a nine-thousand square foot merchandise tent at the tournament with an ATM. The merchandise tent, along with all concessions stands and admissions office will accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as cash.

Handicap Accessible Viewing Areas

Wheelchair-accessible viewing areas will be located on the 18th green, 17th green, putting green, driving range and 11th tee.

Trophy Club

The Trophy Club, located on the 14th hole, is a hospitality pavilion complete with upgraded food and beverages available for purchase. The tent is climate controlled and has open seating, and children 16 and under do not need a ticket if accompanied by a ticketed adult.
