Philadelphia Union forward Sebastian Le Toux has been voted Major League Soccer's Player of the Month for September, the league announced Tuesday.

Le Toux, who scored seven goals in six games, including two in an important 3-2 victory over D.C. United last Thursday that helped keep the Union in the Eastern Conference playoff race, also leads the team in goals (10) and assists (8) on the season.

"It was an incredible month of September for me," Le Toux said on the team's site. "This award means a lot to us. My teammates and I did a great job on the field, and the work I've put in since the beginning of the season is paying off with the goals I scored. I just hope it continues further."

It is the first time the Frenchman has been named Player of the Month since entering the league in 2009. The Union, tied with Columbus for first overall in the Eastern Conference, has three games remaining in the regular season.
