UFC Finally Kicks It's Way into Philly

Sick of paying to see your favorite mixed-martial artists on pay-per-view? While, you can now pay to see them in person -- after 100 epic fight nights the Ultimate Fighting Championship is finally coming to Philadelphia.

Fighters will take to the caged octagon as UFC 101 hits the Wachovia Center on Saturday, August 8.

The fight bill includes B.J. Penn defending his UFC lightweight title against No. 1 contender Kenny Florian and UFC middleweight boss Anderson Silva moving weight classes to take on former light-heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin.

The premiere mixed-martial arts league started small but has blown up to become a worldwide exhibition watched by thousands on pay-per-view TV.

Fans know what UFC is all about but for those who don't here is a quick breakdown. UFC bouts are one-on-one contests that combine various fighting styles. The goal is to get your opponent to tap out or quit but you can also win a few other ways including judges' decision.

Getting the UFC to Pennsylvania for the first time is a big deal for the people at Comcast-Spectacor.

“We are excited to finally be able to host a UFC event in Philadelphia,” said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. “With a world-wide audience watching on pay-per-view, the Wachovia Center will once again be in the national spotlight. This is a terrific opportunity for the facility, our company and most importantly UFC fans in the Greater Philadelphia Region.”

Tickets to the event should be hot commodities.

Expect tickets to sell fast. UFC 100 isn't until July but the event in Las Vegas is already sold out. Prices range from $50 for the cheap seats to $600 to be right down by the action.
