The British Open 2016: What You Need to Know

The 145th British Open Golf Championship begins July 14 at Royal Troon Golf Club in Ayrshire, Scotland. This will be the ninth open championship hosted by Royal Troon. Championships were held there in 1923, 1950, 1962, 1973, 1982, 1989, 1997 and 2004.

The Royal Troon was founded in 1878. The course took its current form in 1888.
