Donovan McNabb doesn't know the rules. Andy Reid doesn't know how to run his short game offense. And for all you out there who don't know that the Eagles/Cardinals game is set to be the TV highlight Thanksgiving night, well, now you know.
Whether or not the game will be the highlight of Eagles fan's evenings is yet to be seen. In all reality the thought of another stuffed bird might be too much for Eagles fans to endure.
Before flipping the tube to the annual airing of Home Alone, consider a few things first.
No one wants to watch the Tennessee Titans and the Detroit Lions at noon. At 10-0 it's safe to say that this one will be a sure bet for the Titans. Besides wouldn't you rather battle your crazy uncle over the last of the yams instead of watching the Lions on Thanksgiving, again?
Dallas and Seattle will yawn it up at 4:15 p.m and let's face it -- the Seahawks are as garbage as the scraps after the mid-day feast. Fans will be sick enough after seconds -- and thirds -- that there is no need to vomit once the Cowboys win.
That leaves only one real worthwhile game of the day. The Arizona Cardinals at the Philly Eagles at 8:15 at night.
Grab that left over turkey leg you hid in the back of the fridge and throw on your McNabb, um, Birds jersey, you might not want to miss this one.
The Eagles are 53-53 all-time against the Cardinals with five ties so this showdown is historically even, assuming the Eagles have all read the rulebooks.
The Cardinals are 7-3 after so far and tops in the NFC West. They have a revived quarterback in Kurt Warner who is having his best season since the "Greatest Show on Turf" years because of his two stellar wideouts in Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald.
With that in mind, you better believe Brian Dawkins will have his defensive troops, who rank fourth in overall NFC defense, ready for war.
Depending on what happens this week against the Baltimore Ravens, the Eagles could still be hanging on by a thread for a wild card slot or trying to avoid slipping below .500, which ironically is what they did week 12 last year.
With all the talk surrounding the inept Eagles offense one stat comes as a shocker -- the Eagles have the fourth best offense in the NFC.
Rub your eyes and read that again, the Eagles have the fourth best offense in the NFC.
The Eagles are not going to bench McNabb so be ready for whatever version of him shows up on Thanksgiving. As die hard fans it's hard not to be optimistic, so for our sake and sanity let's hope McNabb doesn't binge on any turkey before the game or he could be on the ground more than your on the sofa.
The Birds really don’t have much to lose -- mostly everyone in Eagles Nation is already ripping them. This should be a great game whether or not your still bleeding green or jumped off the bandwagon.
