76ers Claw Their Way to a Win

Sixers beat the Hawks 105-100 to pull closer to the fifth spot in the East

After a tough loss to the Portland Trailblazers on Saturday, the 76ers returned home and stepped it up, soaring past the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Center.

Lou Williams led the way with 17 points, and Andre Iguodala and Thaddeus Young each had 16 in the Sixers 105-100 win.

The sixth-place Sixers opened the fourth quarter on a 25-6 run to send the fifth-place Hawks to their second demoralizing loss in two nights. The Bulls won in Atlanta 114-81 on Tuesday night.

Williams and Young keyed the Sixers' rally off the bench in the fourth. Philadelphia was down ten late in the third quarter before an 11-0 run early in the fourth fueled the comeback.

Josh Smith had 33 points and 12 rebounds for the slumping Hawks. Smith's 3-pointer with 1.6 seconds left pulled the Hawks within three.

Iguodala hit two free throws to clinch the win, bringing the Sixers to a record of 37-34 and within 2 1/2 games of Atlanta for fifth-place in the Eastern Conference.
