Sabres Slash Past Flyers

Black Friday left the Orange and Black black and blue as they loss to Buffalo 4-2 in South Philly.

Buffalo's Tim Connolly scored twice in the third period and added two assists to help the Sabres defeat the Flyers and snap a four-game losing streak.

Drew Stafford, who also had an assist, and Paul Gaustad scored goals for the Sabres, who hadn't won since defeating the Flyers here 3-2 on Nov. 14.

Mike Richards and Braydon Coburn scored for the Flyers, who returned home after losing three times on a five-game road trip.

The game was rough and tough as Philly's Dan Carcillo fought twice.

But, the tough award of the day went to Ian Laperriere who lost seven teeth when he blocked a shot with his face. The Flyers center returned to ice despite losing his smile.

As for the game action. Connolly lifted a wrist shot from the slot high over Philadelphia goaltender Ray Emery to break a 2-2 tie at 5:27 in the final period. He scored again at 10:18 when his shot bounced off Emery's mask.

The loss was the third-straight for Sugar Ray.

The Flyers' were without one of their top scorers. Danny Briere didn't play against his former team as he served the final game of a two-game suspension for a late hit earlier in the week.

The loss dropped the Flyers to 13-9-1 as they remained tied for third place in the Atlantic Division.
