Phillies' Halladay, Howard are All-Stars

Halladay pitched a perfect game May 29

Right-hander Roy Halladay and first baseman Ryan Howard are the Phillies' representatives in the All-Star game July 13 in Anaheim.

Second baseman Chase Utley was chosen as an All-Star starter in the fans' voting, but he is out until September because of a torn thumb ligament. Third baseman Placido Polanco, also currently injured, was beaten out at third base in the fans' voting by the Mets' David Wright.

Last year, the NL champion Phillies had five All-Stars, including outfielders Jayson Werth and Raul Ibanez.

Halladay is 9-7 with a 2.42 ERA in 17 starts and pitched a perfect game May 29 against Florida. Howard is having his usual productive season, with 15 homers and 58 RBIs.
