Happ, Park Swap Roles

Chan Ho Park was parked in the bullpen Tuesday -- replaced in the Phillies rotation by J.A. Happ, according to a report on Philly.com.

The Phils had to do something to combat the worst starting-pitching ERA in baseball. So, Happ and Park swapping spots on the Phillies' staff didn't come as a huge surprise.

Happ, a 26-year-old lefty, was 2-0 in 12 games out of the pen -- posting a 2.49 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 21.2 innings pitched.

Park wasn't so successful so far. The 35-year-old righty posted a 1-1 record in eight games (seven starts) -- posting a 7.08 ERA with 21 K's in 34.1 innings.

The fact that Park was a successful relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers last season could have played into the decision. The Phillies can't rely on the same luxury with their other struggling starters (Jamie Moyer and Joe Blanton).

The move means that Happ should make his first start of the season when the Phillies take on the Yankees in New York on Saturday.
