Owls Clipped, Title Dreams Ended

The man with the "Golden" touch couldn't lead his team to one more conference win.

The dreams of Al Golden's Temple Owls ended in Ohio. They won't complete an undefeated conference regular season and won't play in the Mid-American Conference championship game after losing on Black Friday.

Theo Scott threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as Ohio defeated Temple 35-17 to advance to the MAC championship game.

The Bobcats (9-3, 7-1 MAC) won their fourth straight game Friday, while ending Temple's school-record nine-game winning streak.

Ohio will play Central Michigan in Detroit on Dec. 4.

Scott was 17 of 21 for 324 yards and he ran for two scores to help the
Bobcats claim the MAC Eastern Division title.

Scott's 43-yard run put Ohio ahead 32-17 with 10:02 left in third quarter. Taylor Price caught three passes for 94 yards for the Bobcats.

Without Bernard Pierce Temple leaned on Matt Brown. The 5-foot-5 freshman scampered for 172 yards on 25 carries, including a nine-yard touchdown run in the second half for the Owls (9-3, 7-1).

Temple now must await a likely bowl bid.
