No Sweat as Oswalt Takes Care of Mets

Phillies 3rd ace shuts down Mets 3-0

On a team of aces Roy Oswalt is making his case to be No. 1 on the list.

Oswalt allowed just four hits and one walk while using 113 pitches to take down the Mets in the rubber match of the three-game series as the Phils won 3-0.

It was Oswalt’s second complete game this season.

The Phillies rewarded him with enough offense for a victory over the New York Mets on Sunday.

Raul Ibanez hit a solo homer off Jon Niese (9-8), and Chase Utley and Ryan Howard also drove in runs for the Phillies, who nosed ahead of the Atlanta Braves by one game in the NL East by winning for the fifth time in six games. Atlanta had a chance to pull back into a tie against St. Louis later Sunday.

Oswalt allowed just four hits and one walk while using 113 pitches to take down the Mets in the rubber match of the three-game series.

The righty, who is 6-1 since he was acquired from Houston before the July trade deadline, is making his case for Phillies ace ahead of Roy Halladay and Cole Hamels.

Next up for the Phillies is a three-game set in Florida against the Marlins.
