Oh Danny Boy — Please Get Healthy

Flyers Briere on the mend, again

The Flyers have had a rather unremarkable start to their 2008-09 campaign posting fewer points (13) than games played (14) while scuffling on the defensive end.

The one area the Flyers have not had problems so far is scoring where they have posted 48 goals..

What's crazy is that the Flyers may need to do even more on the offensive end if they hope to climb back into playoff contention.

Enter Danny Briere -- nevermind -- scratch that, literally.

He scored in the Flyers last game against the New York Islanders before leaving due to a groin injury.

Briere has battled injuries early to post nine points in only eight games. He has missed six games already this season and the total is about to grow.

Briere is being put on the shelf, again, for the next week or so, according to a post on the team's site.

The undersized (5'10" is his listed height) center's build seems like it should be a concern but really hasn't been until now -- he played 79 games last season and all 82 the year before.

Flyers fans will have to wait and see if this injury is just a quick ding that can be hammered out quickly or something more major like past injuries to stars Eric Lindross, Simon Gagne and Peter Forsberg.

In the meantime, "Oh Danny Boy" we wish you a speedy recovery -- the team needs you.
