No Medal For Belbin and Agosto

Delaware County team was stuck in fourth for entire competition

There's no medal at the end of the road for Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto.

The figure skating duo placed fourth in the final competition at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver Monday night.

There were high hopes for the Aston, Pa.-based dance team after they took silver in the 2006 games in Torino, Italy.

But after their first dance landed them in fourth place, the couple just couldn't move up.

The Russian team of Oksana Domina and Maksim Shabalin kicked the couple out of third on Sunday night's Original Dance competition by just three-tenths of a point.

And it was the Russians -- who also train with Belbin and Agosto at IceWorks in Aston -- again who took the bronze from the couple during Monday's Free Dance.

Belbin and Agosto were all smiles as their competitors took the podium to be bestowed with the medals, but will this be the last time they dance together?

Tanith tweeted this before the competition:

"Decided Tom Petty's Last Dance w/Mary Jane is too depressing 2b today's theme song, so D.Summers here we go! Last Dance...toniiiight!"

Some figure skating pundits think the message means the duo's done.

Although Belbin and Agosto didn't make it to the podium, Americans Meryl Davis and Charlie White took silver. But the U.S.'s streak without a gold in couples figure skating continues.

Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir made their nation proud by taking the gold -- hopefully making up for the Canadian hockey team's embarrassing loss to the U.S. Sunday.

While couples skating is done, figure skating isn't over. The women singles take the ice Tuesday.
