NHL Last Night: Flyers Skip Past Bruins

Randy Jones' shot rebounded into the net off a Boston player with 2 minutes left in overtime, giving the Philadelphia Flyers a 4-3 victory over the NHL-leading Bruins on Saturday.

Former Bruin Glen Metropolit, Scott Hartnell and Simon Gagne also scored for Philadelphia, who rallied from 3-1 down after the first period. Byron Bitz scored his first NHL goal for Boston, and Marc Savard and Chuck Kobasew also scored.

Blue Jackets 3, Sharks 2, OT

In Columbus, Ohio, Christian Backman scored in overtime to help Columbus edge San Jose.

The result snapped the Blue Jackets' three-game losing streak, while inflicting a third straight defeat on the Sharks for the first time this season.

Columbus goalie Dan LaCosta made 28 saves in his first NHL start.

Red Wings 8, Oilers 3

In Detroit, the hosts scored three times in the first six minutes, setting up a big win over Edmonton.

Brian Rafalski, Maria Hossa and Pavel Datsyuk each had a goal and an assist for the reigning Stanley Cup champions.

Capitals 3, Panthers 1

In Washington, Mike Green broke a franchise record scoring streak by netting twice in Washington's win over Florida.

Green tied the game on a power play in the first minute of the third period, then added a late empty-netter, giving him goals in six consecutive games — the longest goal streak by a defenseman in team history.

Despire missing 13 games, Green leads NHL defensemen with a career-high 19 goals and 46 points this season. He's second in the NHL with 14 power-play scores.

Ducks 2, Flames 1

In Calgary, Alberta, Corey Perry scored the winner for Anaheim off turnover, downing Calgary.

Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastian Giguere made 26 saves for his first victory in a month.

Perry intercepted an errant pass, broke in alone and snapped a shot that trickled in with 28 seconds left in the second period.

The two teams will meet again on Wednesday.

Canucks 7, Blackhawks 3

In Vancouver, British Columbia, Vancounver crushed Chicago to leapfrog three teams and move into seventh in the Western Conference.

Henrik Sedin scored 53 seconds into the game and Mats Sundin added a power-play goal 2 minutes later to put the Canucks en route to victory.

Kings 3, Devils 1

In Newark, New Jersey, a suddenly revived Los Angeles made it six wins in seven games by downing New Jersey.

Patrick O'Sullivan scored on a penalty shot and added an assist, and Jonathan Quick made 25 saves for the Kings.

Lowly Los Angeles improved to 3-1 on its five-game road trip.

Maple Leafs 5, Canadiens 2

In Montreal, Jason Blake scored twice in the third period to guide Toronto to a win over arch rival Montreal.

Luke Schenn added his first NHL goal for the Maple Leafs, and Vesa Toskala made 31 saves.

Hurricanes 7, Coyotes 2

In Glendale, Arizona, Carolina handed Phoenix its sixth straight loss.

Tuomo Ruutu scored twice, and Sergei Samsonov added a goal and three assists for the Hurricanes.

Senators 3, Sabres 2, SO

In Ottawa, Mike Fisher scored the winner in the third round of the shootout as Ottawa defeated Buffalo.

Nick Foligno and Antoine Vermette scored in regulation to help give Senators coach Cory Clouston his first victory in three games with the team.

Blues 4, Avalanche 1

In St. Louis, Brad Boyes had a goal and an assist in a 31-second span of the second period, setting up St. Louis' win over Colorado.

Chris Mason made 23 saves for the Blues, who have earned points in nine of their past 10 games.

Lightning 1, Islanders 0

In Tampa, Florida, Mike McKenna made 28 saves for his first NHL shutout as Tampa Bay edged New York.

Gary Roberts scored the sole goal in the third period for Tampa Bay.

McKenna was making only his second career NHL start.
