Maggie Hogan

Country: USA
Sport: Canoe Sprint
Date of Birth: 01/01/1979
First Olympics: 2016, Rio de Janeiro

Born in Philadelphia, Maggie Hogan began her kayaking journey through surf lifesaving, where she was trying to learn how to surf ski while going through the San Diego Lifeguard Academy. She made her first U.S. canoe/kayak national team in 2005 and has been a member since then. Hogan, a 14-time national champion, won bronze at the 2015 World Championships in the women’s kayak single (K1) 1000m, a non-Olympic event, but proved she has the endurance for an Olympic selection in the women’s K1 500m. Sure enough, Hogan became the first American to qualify for Rio in canoe/kayak sprint in the women’s K1 500m at the 2016 Canoe/Kayak Sprint Pan American Championships.
