Lights Out Lidge Delivers Accolade

Closer wins "Major League Baseball Delivery Man of the Year Award"

Phillies closer Brad Lidge will be able to add a new award to his mantel after being named the "DHL Presents the Major League Baseball Delivery Man of the Year Award" winner.

Lidge was recognized for basically living up to his "lights out" moniker. He was a perfect 41 for 41 in save chances posting a minuscule 1.95 ERA and 92 strikeouts in just 69.1 innings.

Lidge beat out Yankees closer Mariano Rivera, Angels stopper Francisco Rodriguez and Royals closer Joakim Soria for the award.

More than 100,000 fans voted for the award that is given to the best relief pitcher in baseball.

Now the most important piece of hardware for Lidge remains a World Series ring, which he can earn after officially receiving the "Delivery Man of the Year Award" before World Series Game 5 on Monday.
