NFLer Heads to Court for Pot Charges

Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back LeGarrette Blount is due in court for a marijuana possession charge stemming from his arrest in August with former teammate Le'Veon Bell.

Blount has since been cut and now plays for the New England Patriots.

The 28-year-old is charged with possessing marijuana found in Bell's car when Bell was pulled over Aug. 20 in Ross Township, a suburb just north of Pittsburgh.

Bell has already waived his right to a preliminary hearing and agreed to enter a first-offender's program that could enable him to get his record expunged if he completes 15 months' probation. An Allegheny County judge must still approve Bell's entry into the program on Feb. 6.

Wednesday's hearing will determine whether Blount will stand trial, though he could also waive it and pursue a deal similar to Bell's.
