Flyers Get 2 Shots to Win to Get in

Flyers can clinch playoff spot by beating Rangers

Some how the Fly Guys remain in the field despite winning just three of their last 10 games.

The up-and-down Flyers season could end this weekend, unless they pick up two points against the New York Rangers.

With a spot in the playoffs on the line, the Atlantic Division rivals are set to face off in a home-and-away series that starts Friday night in Madison Square Garden.

The Flyers are hoping to get into the Eastern Conference playoffs and possibly out of a first-round match up with Alex Oveckhin’s Capitals.

They are hoping for at least a seventh or eighth seed and possibly even the sixth seed -- with some help from other teams and a couple wins.

All the Flyers need to do to get in is to tie both games in regulation or win just one of the two games.

They could get a needed boost if top-scorer Jeff Carter is able to play in either game. Carter was cleared to practice earlier this week and could play Friday, according to the Flyers.

The Pittsburgh Penguins, who went on to win the Stanley Cup, eliminated the Flyers last year in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
