Flyers Lock Up Giroux

Forward signs 3-year extension

The Flyers and forward Claude Giroux have agreed to a multi-year contract extension.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced the move Monday night. The 22-year-old Giroux has seven goals and 14 points this season.

The extension that will keep Giroux in Orange and Black through the 2013-14 season is worth $11.25 million, reported CSNPhilly.com.

Giroux has played 141 games for the Flyers over parts of four seasons, including all 82 games in 2009-10. He has 32 goals and added 56 assists for 88 points and helped the Flyers reach the Stanley Cup finals last season.

Giroux was scheduled to become a restricted free agent on July 1.
