Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren suffered some nasty injuries including broken ribs in a Labor Day bicycle accident along the Jersey Shore but luckily he was home and on his way to recovery Thursday.
Holmgren was released from Cooper Hospital Thursday, the team announced.
"[I am] sore, but otherwise in good spirits," Holmgren said after the wreck.
The 55-year-old was biking along in Avalon when he he possibly hit a rut, President & Chief Operating Officer of Comcast-Spectacor (the company that owns the Flyers) Peter Luukko said.
"I know Paul, he’s pretty fast on that bike so he probably went over pretty hard, said Luukko Tuesday. "The good news is that it’s certainly nothing life-threatening and we’ll have him back."
The crash happened on 58th Street in Avalon, N.J., a witness told NBC10.
Luukko explained the injuries Holmgren suffered.

"He has some broken ribs, broken shoulder and some stitches on his leg and arm, but Paul’s tough so he’ll be right back in the game."
Holmgren took over for Bobby Clarke as Flyers GM in 2006. He coached the Orange and Black for four seasons (1988-89 to 1991-92) and played parts of nine seasons with the Flyers in the 1970s and 80s.
